Web design timesavers - An introduction to our new series

A new blog series coming to PixelHaze Academy this autumn…

At PixelHaze Academy, we are constantly thinking of new training plans and processes to help web designers and small business owners; we are delighted to announce a new series…

Web design timesavers

For those of us who are continually creating content on Squarespace, there are various tasks that can be laborious and time consuming, in fact I guess that goes for any walk of life. We have some great news to brighten up your Monday, here’s the start of a series of our best industry hacks that will save you a considerable amount of time.

To get us up and running, here is a quick preview of our first 3 timesavers that will be added over the coming weeks.

1. Duplicate pages in Squarespace

Our first support article in this series will be focusing on how you can save time by duplicating pages, blog posts and events in Squarespace. Page duplication is a well known and heavily used feature by experienced designers. If you are familiar with duplicating pages in Squarespace, have you thought about going one step further and creating templates? This is extra helpful for complex page structures and we will be sharing a series of practical executions of the Squarespace page duplication feature. This article will be added over the next week, in the meantime check out our rapid-fire tech tip to duplicating a text page in Squarespace (via our YouTube channel)…

Get that Groundhog Day feeling when adding or transferring content into Squarespace? The Duplicate page option is a welcome relief from repetitive tasks and this tutorial will get you up and running with the feature. Additional Tech Tips and Squarespace Masterclass Courses are available at www.pixelhaze.academy

2. Use CSS Code snippets in Squarespace with TextExpander

If you build more than a handful of Squarespace websites each year, the ability and software to create CSS, JavaScript and HTML code snippets is crucial to ensuring that you can add custom styling efficiently and error free. Not only can you add and organise your own tried and tested custom code in the TextExpander library (with keyboard shortcuts to bring them to the fore), you can also save 3rd party plugins that you use most frequently. Just check that you have a commercial licence for the plugin (ensuring you can legally install it on more than one website).

3. Streamlining the styles section in Squarespace

For our 3rd post in the series, we will be working with a couple of fantastic 3rd party tools, colorzilla and the Squarespace font optimizer. By combining these tools with the style export feature, we can really speed up and simplify the process of setting your Squarespace styles. We have built over 200 Squarespace websites at PixelHaze and we are kicking ourselves for not thinking of this process sooner. You will see why in this hotly anticipated article!

So there we have it, three time-saver hacks that have made a huge and positive difference to our web design flow that we are going to be sharing with you over the next few weeks. We will then release the titles of our next 3 time saving hacks in December/January.

Please stay tuned :)
